Activity Name: “Star of Academy” for International Students of the School of Tourism and Urban-Planning.
Background: In order to highlight the excellent qualities of our international students in academics, volunteer services and campus activities, and to show the diversified charms of our international student group, the School of Tourism and Urban-Planning decided to hold the Star of Academy activity. Through this activity, international students will be encouraged to actively participate in various activities, promote exchanges and cooperation among international students, cultivate and improve the comprehensive quality of them.
Objectives:
1. To identify and recognize international students who have excelled in academic competitions and to motivate them to improve in their academic fields.2. Recognize international students who have demonstrated excellence in volunteerism and promote a sense of social responsibility on campus.
3. To encourage more international students to participate actively in campus activities and to identify and reward students who excel in sports, culture transmission and the arts.
Activity Process
I. Selection Requirements
1. Star of Volunteer
Selection criteria: For students who like Chinese culture, who are willing to help others, have a strong sense of social responsibility; vigorously promote the spirit of volunteerism; and those who have made outstanding contributions to volunteer service and achieved remarkable results.
2. Star of Academic Competition
Selection criteria: For students who actively participate in scientific researches, disciplinary competitions, including “Internet +”, “Challenge Cup” and other innovative competitions and got certain achievements in it.
3. Star of Culture and Sports Activities
Selection criteria: For students who actively participate in club activities, on-campus and off-campus cultural and sports activities. Including but not limited to “Dreamwalk Zhejiang”, “Chinese Bridge”, cultural performances, sports meeting, etc.
II、Filing Methods and Material Requirements
1. Selection process
① Application stage: Participating students may write a short personal statement (no more than 200 words), and then send it together with your application materials to the designated email address: ixs_tourism@126.com.
② Preliminary evaluation stage: teachers will evaluate the submitted materials, and then choose who will enter the next stage.
③ Voting stage: online voting for the finalists.
④ Announcement of results: The Foreign Affairs Office will determine the winners and award them with certificates and prizes based on the results of the preliminary evaluation and voting.
2. Way to register
Participating students are requested to send the supporting materials in the form of a zip file to the official email address of the School of Tourism and Urban-Planning: ixs_tourism@126.com before December 15（this Friday）. Supporting materials can include certificates of awards, certificates of participation, screenshots of news reports, screenshots of volunteer service hours, etc. (Please name the materials in the format of student number + class + name. )
3. Materials Requirements
① Please put your personal statement and all the pictures in a PDF document, and name the PDF as student number + class + name.
② Please note under each proof photo a caption that includes the participant and the name of the activity/volunteering. (e.g.: x x won x award in x x activity)
III、Awards
1. The competition is open to all international students of the School of Tourism and Urban-Planning , it sets 2 stars for each category. Students who won the “Star of the Academy” will get a certificate and a customized prize, as well as additional points in the evaluation of scholarships.
2. Each student who participates in this event will receive a certificate of participation, and will be eligible for additional points in the scholarship evaluation for the following academic year.
